Reading time: 2 minutes

P&T's tea experts travel to Japan to explore the cultural significance of tea and strengthen exclusive partnerships with some of the finest tea gardens in the country.

During their time in Japan, P&T's tea experts immersed themselves in the country's rich culture, visited thriving tea gardens and forged deep connections with local tea partners. From the modern tea houses of Tokyo to the traditional gardens of Kagoshima, the team deepened their understanding of the highly regarded art of tea growing and preparation.

Discoveries on the lively streets of Tokyo

Our journey to Japan began in the vibrant energy of Tokyo, where we visited spots such as the contemporary tea house Tokio Saryo and the matcha stand Maruni to discover the innovations and trends shaping urban tea culture. Here, the bridge between the past and present of tea enjoyment is brought vividly to life.

Connecting with nature in Kagoshima

From the bustling capital, our route took us to Kagoshima — home of the Sakurajima volcano and the renowned Obubu Tea Estate. This leg of the journey underscored the close friendship between P&T and our Japanese partners in the creation of teas of the highest quality.

Cultural depth in Kyoto

Kyoto, celebrated for its historic temples and traditional tea houses, offered our experts the chance to immerse themselves fully in the cultural richness of Japan. The Ippodo tea house and a Koto tea ceremony were just two of the highlights that showed us how deeply rooted the drinking of tea is in Japanese life.
