How the tea tastes

Happy Huizong

With its mild, sweet, and nutty flavor, this tea once delighted Chinese Emperor Huizong. We now honor him by naming this tea specialty after him. This jade-white infusion offers an incomparably delicate delight for all green tea lovers.

the perfect cup of tea

The preparation

Prepare your cup of tea carefully with water that is not boiling hot, as the low temperatures bring out the delicate aromas of green tea.

The processing of the tea

This specialty is characterized by its needle-shaped, pale green tea leaves that are nearly white before harvesting, giving rise to its Chinese name, Anji Baicha (translated as "white tea"). From mid-March to April, the young, tender leaves are hand-plucked, roasted, and rolled into their distinctive shape.

The origin of the tea

This precious Anji Baicha green tea variety originates from picturesque Anji in Zhejiang Province, China, at an altitude of 900 meters. Located in the northern part of Zhejiang, this region boasts idyllic landscapes and an ideal climate marked by mild temperatures, ample rainfall, and fertile soil. Renowned for its rich tea-growing heritage, Anji is dedicated to producing high-quality teas.

FAQ about Happy Huizong

Happy Huizong is a Chinese green tea speciality from Zhejiang known as An Ji Bai Cha. Although the name “Bai Cha” literally means “white tea”, this tea clearly belongs to the green tea family because of the way it is processed.
The name refers to the young leaves, which appear especially pale and almost whitish in early spring. However, An Ji Bai Cha is processed using the traditional methods for green tea.
Happy Huizong has a mild, delicate and sweetly nutty flavour. Its pale jade-coloured infusion highlights its refined and elegant character.
No, Happy Huizong is a pure green tea with no added flavourings. Its taste is entirely natural and comes solely from the leaf, the harvest period and the processing.
Yes, like green tea in general, Happy Huizong naturally contains caffeine. How pronounced it feels in the cup depends, among other things, on the amount used, the brewing time and the water temperature.
For Happy Huizong, the young, tender shoots are hand-plucked from mid-March to April. The leaves are then withered, fired, lightly rolled, dried, sorted and packed.
It is best to store Happy Huizong in a dry place and protect it from heat. This helps preserve the tea’s delicate flavour and quality for as long as possible.
