How the tea tastes

White Earl

Chinese white tea Bai Mudan, named after the peony for its floral notes, delights with its gentle yet complex taste. Adding bergamot oil imparts a refreshing citrus note, creating a unique and mild white tea version of the well-known Earl Grey.

How to create
the perfect cup of tea

The preparation

Prepare your cup of tea carefully with water that is not boiling hot, as the low temperatures bring out the delicate aromas of white tea.

The processing of the tea

Bai Mudan is crafted from the young leaves and silvery buds of the tea plant. Typically, white tea is only withered and dried after harvesting, a minimal processing method that preserves the delicate aromas of the leaves. For our WHITE EARL, this special whole-leaf tea is blended with cold-pressed bergamot oil from Italy.

The origin of the tea

Bai Mudan is a popular and esteemed variety of white tea, traditionally originating from one of China's oldest and most renowned tea-growing regions. Fujian is celebrated for its high-quality and diverse teas, including some of China's most famous varieties. The region's numerous sunny days and frequent morning mists in the mountainous areas create ideal conditions for the growth of the delicate tea buds and leaves.

FAQ about White Earl

White Earl is an organic Earl Grey made with white tea. Instead of a robust black tea base, this blend combines delicate Bai Mudan from China with cold-pressed bergamot oil, creating a particularly smooth and elegant interpretation of this tea classic.
White Earl tastes floral, smooth and citrus-fresh. The Bai Mudan brings delicate, lightly sweet and floral notes, while the bergamot gives the tea its characteristic Earl Grey profile – only finer and less brisk than a classic Earl Grey tea.
Yes, White Earl is an organic Earl Grey made from certified organic ingredients. The white tea is flavoured with natural bergamot oil, giving the blend a clear citrus note without an artificial-tasting flavour profile.
White Earl is made with white tea and, depending on how it is prepared, may be milder than a classic Earl Grey made with black tea. That said, white tea also naturally contains caffeine, as both teas come from the Camellia sinensis plant.
White Earl uses white tea rather than black tea, which makes it softer, lighter and more floral. If you enjoy Earl Grey tea but are looking for a more elegant and less malty version, this blend is a distinctive alternative.
White Earl is best prepared with water that is hot but not boiling, so the delicate aromas of the white tea are preserved. This allows the floral nuances of the Bai Mudan and the fresh bergamot to come through in a well-balanced cup.
White Earl is suitable for anyone who would like to discover white tea or Earl Grey in a new way. It is especially well suited to tea lovers looking for fine, natural flavours and a mild organic tea with bergamot.
